August 26, 2015: Sendoukia Archaeological Site, unexcavated (Roman)

This batch of photos represents my second day's exploration of the Island of Skopelos, where I did a 2.5 week artist-in-residency at the ever-enchanting Skopelos Foundation for the Arts.
I was really there to do a video installation, so these photos were just my way of exploring a sense of place. Here, the director of SkopArts and her daughter took me to see some Roman ruins. No one knows anything about this site. Though there are legends passed through generations, these ruins have never been excavated. Legends suggest they are from about 400 c.e.
My time at this spot was a bit rushed, as I was being swarmed by bees at every turn. For some reason, no one else was being swarmed by bees.

Got 11 minutes, 6 seconds? See the video I installed at SkopArts. Installation was life size: https://vimeo.com/139816791
