July 19, 2017: An Afternoon at Caesarea, Israel
Caesarea is between Tel Aviv and Haifa. It is best known as King Harod's port, but before that it was a Phoenician port. After King Harod, Byzantines, Ottomans, Arabs, and European Crusaders made their marks.
While in Caesarea and Tel Dor, I also made a quick-effort web video with Dr. Beverly Goodman, Marine Geophysical Archaeologist at University of Haifa. Dr. Goodman studies seashells and how they tell stories about tsunamis!

The following photos are, of course, Roman Era, built at the time of King Harod
These are pictures of a Byzantine sewer system, to be excavated in November 2017. The aqueduct right along the coast in the distance suggests that the shoreline might have been farther out.
