August 17, 2014: Alex's San Diego Half Marathon
Alex invited me to run this half marathon with him, but I was nursing a bit of heel plantar fascists from pounding down very steep hills on pavement in bad shoes. BLAH! So I sat this one out and took photos.
I like the abstracted, Gerhardt Richter quality of these two!
This was the contested photo of our runner's -- medal!-- at the end of the race. Alex asked me to take a picture, time was of the essence, I had my 250mm lens on from shooting the race, and couldn't change lenses fast enough, couldn't back up far enough... Alex thought the photo was objectifying because he didn't have a head. I thought it told a great story of athletic effort, exhaustion, pride and accomplishment.
He relented and said I could post the photo. :)
Random person. I just liked her attitude in this photo.
Our friend Dara, who is a neuroscientist at UC San Diego. I like how I fabricated a story with the depth of field.
