February 15, 2015:  Muir Beach at Sundown

Copyright Casondra Sobieralski 2015

I had fun playing with the lighting this evening.  The first photo is one of my all time favorites on this photoblog.  Be sure to click for the big version.    :)

I did not know I was going to end up at the beach close to dark, though, with such great photo ops.  So after this I started keeping a tripod in my car, just in case.

February 14, 2015:  San Pedro Park (near Pacifica)

Just a little record of an interesting hidden park that my friend Kelly knew about.  Traffic was bad so we spent more time getting there and back than we actually spent THERE, but it was fun to discover a new place.

February 8, 2015: Stinson Beach After a Storm

My massage therapist Katie moved out to Stinson Beach for a few months, and I loved going out there to work with her.  She had a beautiful place with windows overlooking the sea.

On this occasion, after my massage, I went to the ocean to take photographs.  I caught some dramatic light after a storm.  Here are some favorites.

On the way back from a micro-hike, the kind you take when the days are very short and you don't get out til 3 pm because weekends are also for life maintenance errands and cleaning, my friend Julie and I found an art installation in our neighborhood. Way high up on a ridge, someone --or someones-- poetically placed tasteless chachkies in tasteful ways on guard rail posts.

I don't know if it was created by one person or many, but the installation inspired me to make more art.  I only wish I'd had more time to make really careful studies. But I got a few winners!

After a trip to the Cantor Museum, my former housemate Julie and I caught the last rays of light on a cougar populated trail near Palo Alto.

October 25, 2014: Big Sur with Julie

All images copyright Casondra Sobieralski

I was going to completely scrap all but 2 of my Big Sur photos from this year.  They all seemed so terrible.  "How can I go to one of the most beautiful,  e x p a n s i v e  places on Earth and take such crappy pictures? How can I go to a place so full of super special memories of joy and growth and take such sharp, jagged, tense, trapped-feeling, sad images?" I wondered.

But then I thought about how terrible I FELT that day.  And I started to see how I felt INSIDE was really coming through in my pictures.

So maybe, just maybe, instead of creating beautiful images, I actually created Art that day.  Like, self expression despite my Self.

As an experiment, I offer these "terrible photographs" up for you to decide, and I added some titles to shade them.
